Fashion Magazine Series

In 2006, the fashion-focused magazine released this joint series with fashion digital photographer Mario Sorrenti shooting contemporary American musician Richard Tuttle. Ever since, there have actually been several examples of cooperations between high-profile artists and stars, for example, Ryan Trecartin and Lizzie Fitch routing a shoot starring Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid in 2016, Mickalene Thomas photographing Cardi B. in 2018, and Robert Longo shooting Nicole Kidman as one of his “men” in the city in 2014.

Lawrence’s Artistic Collaborations

In the accompanying post, Lawrence talked passionately about the musicians with whom she functioned: The discussion Parreno composed for his film was “nearly Ang Lee– like”, while Peyton is “so much smarter than me in every imaginable way.”

Parreno shot a brief movie starring Lawrence. In one scene, the starlet stares extremely at the electronic camera, calmly portraying a series of emotions as motivated by Parreno– inner chaos, tranquility, anxiousness, sorrow, and happiness. In the direction of the end of the clip, she averts, leaving her shoulders and back square to the electronic camera. The parting picture evokes Gerhard Richter’s renowned portrait of his little girl, Betty (1988 ), which is itself a reference to Ingres’s The Bather at Valpinçon (1808 ).
