Ismail Gulgee, a pioneering Pakistani Modernist, and his legacy are explored through his son Amin's gallery in Karachi. The gallery preserves Gulgee's work and addresses challenges in South Asian art preservation. Amin's art also is highlighted.
Muzej Lah, a new modern art gallery housing the Fundacija Lah collection, will open in Slovenia. Showcasing works from renowned artists of the 20th & 21st centuries, the gallery is located in Bled.
Among the artists currently represented in the collection are many women, including Magdalena Abakanowicz, Mária Bartuszová, Sarah Lucas, Ewa Juszkiewicz, Sandra Mujinga, Senga Nengudi, Alina Szapocznikow, Rebecca H. Quaytman and Vivian Suter, she says.
The arduous task of finding suitable real estate thus fell to Crowninshield and Goodyear, who searched several possibilities before settling on six rooms on the twelfth floor of the Heckscher Building, at 730 Fifth Avenue, a location that Sullivan, through a former student of hers, helped them root out.
